Uraia Matatolu Makulau is a law graduate of the University of the South with a passion working in the areas of disaster law, environmental law and security management. He recently served as a Legal Consultant for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Oceania and is an Intern with the Disaster Law Program under the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Uraia is a father, a husband and an optimist with an undisputed commitment to his faith, family and his passion. He hails from a small town in the main island of Fiji (Republic of Fiji, Pacific) called Sigatoka. To be a part of the Young Professional Committee is a privilege as he is a Pacific Islander—and the daily livelihood of an Islander heavily rests on the Ocean.
