Paden Lennie

I am an Inuvialuit beneficiary, born and raised in Inuvik, NWT. As a young child, my family and I used water bodies, – from transportation to harvesting – giving me a sense of connection, and quickly recognizing the importance it has on the local people. This drove me to follow my passion and continue my education in the environmental science world.

The completion of an Applied Bachelor of Science Degree in Ecosystem Management – specializing in Fish and Wildlife Management – led me to a career with Parks Canada as a Resource Management Officer II, in Inuvik, NWT. This opportunity helped strengthen my knowledge and understanding of the local management and protection of natural water bodies.

I have been given the responsibility to be the lead for all the water-related measures, such as: water quality monitoring, benthic invertebrate sampling and fish mark recapture studies using T-bar tags. I’m looking forward to joining a committee that will give me an opportunity to gain valuable information for the management and protection of marine protected areas, allowing future generations to enjoy natural water bodies as much as I do.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN VANCOUVER IN FEBRUARY 2023
