IMPAC5 launches call for proposals ahead of the one-year countdown to Vancouver 2022

Now is the time to ask ourselves: what can we do for the world ocean?

What can my workplace/community/nation do to help conserve the ocean’s vast species and respect community economies that depend on a healthy ocean?

One way to take action this week is to join, share and encourage a conversation about how we can protect 30% of the global ocean by 2030.

Next June, ocean-loving people from all over the globe – MPA managers, Indigenous community members, policy makers, politicians, young activists and many more – will take a stand for the world ocean at the Fifth International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC5), in Vancouver.

This international Congress is an opportunity for the global community of marine conservation managers, practitioners and decision makers to exchange knowledge, experience and best practices to strengthen the conservation of marine biodiversity and to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the ocean.

Here’s how you can help.

On 14 June 2021, IMPAC5 launches its call for proposals that will shape the agenda for next year’s international Congress. We need you to help spread the word!

IMPAC5 is seeking quality proposal submissions from a broad spectrum of marine protected area (MPA) practitioners, stakeholders, institutions, governments and organizations, Indigenous peoples, individuals and young professionals. Proposals for a variety of in-person and virtual formats that align with IMPAC5’s themes and streams will be considered.

Please share the IMPAC5 call for proposals with your Canadian and international networks to ensure IMPAC5’s agenda reflects a diverse range of voices from nations and cultures around the world.

For more information please visit www.impac5.ca, and follow IMPAC5 on Facebook, Instagram, Linked In and Twitter in order to share with colleagues and friends.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN VANCOUVER IN FEBRUARY 2023
